Some fun cat toys to get my 2 cats?

0 votes
I am just trying to find some new ways to keep my 2 indoor cats entertained. They are very fond of the toys that are attached to a string that is attached to the stick and I have alot of fun playing with them. My one cat is very fond of catnip, so I buy her catnip infused toys. I would like to get one of those remote control mice. Has anyone ever tried this? I am hoping in about the next month to a large cat tree I just need to find a good design that I like first. I am sad to say though that both of my kitties were de-clawed before we adopted them, so no scratching posts are needed, but they still enjoy biting and batting toys around. So what are some good toys to get and I would prefer if they were from petco if possible. :)

A rolled up piece of cooking tin foil (golf ball size) or a plastic bottle cap will keep a cat entertained for hours.

There is no need to buy cat toys. Most are junk and contain toxic materials anyway.

My cat likes playing with balls, I roll them across the floor and she goes crazy.

i've spent a lot of money on cat toys in the past, only to find them destroyed the next day. you can buy catnip on it's own, and make your own toys really easily. it's a good way to recycle.. you can use anything like sweet wrappers, bits of paper etc. (just be sure nothing gets eaten)

if you're crafty you could make pom-poms (really simple, just google some instructions) and attach them to sticks with a piece of string. if you use a twig from the garden or park, even better, my cats love chasing the ball and chewing on the stick and i can sit back and worry-not because it's not made from plastic and other materials which could be harmful to your cats.

you could also get a small square of cloth and place a bit of catnip in the centre, gather up the corners and stitch or tie it up into a little bag, then do the same and attach it to a stick.

i'm a bit cautious of encouraging my cats to chase mice lookalikes.. i've a feeling it'll end in a small, furry, bloody mess on my doorstep.. balls are just as effective.

also, if you have any cardboard boxes you could turn into a tunnel or sorts, they'll enjoy chasing a piece of string, or a toy through it and over it etc..

don't waste your money on novelty toys.. your cats can't really tell the difference between them and handmade ones.
