Cats do not like the smell of their clean tower.?

We have two 7 yr.old cats. They have a multi level tower that they love. They play on it and sleep on different levels all the time. It is covered with carpeting.  I vacuum it regularly. I noticed that it was smelling a little funky. So for the first time, last weekend, I shampooed it with Woolite Carpet Cleaner. I vacuumed it thoroughly to get all the shampoo out, but not they do not like the tower. They climb on it, smell around, and jump off. I tried shampooing again with a cat shampoo. No luck. I then tried spraying it with catnip spray. They still do not like it. Any suggestions?

Probably smell the chemicals from the cleaner. Plus you washed all their scents off. Give it time, they may go back to using it. Try rubbing their scent glands on your hand and them rub it on the tower.

Try vacuuming again. Cats don't like change, and their tower doesn't smell like it used to. Otherwise, you could just give them time.

for the scent thing, you could rub a hand towel on their face where their scent glands are and put it on the tower. i bet they'd sit on the towel
